Lutheran General continues to be rated one of the top teaching hospitals in the nation.  It
has also been recognized for years as one of America's Best Hospitals and has Magnet
designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the highest honor for
nursing excellence in the country.

One of the largest hospitals in the Chicago area, Advocate Lutheran General is a 645-bed
teaching, research, and referral hospital, and a Level I Trauma Center.  It has long set the
standard in the region for advanced medical care.

Some of the hospital's offerings include multi-specialty robot-assisted surgery,
intra-operative MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), leading-edge techniques in coronary
bypass surgery, and minimally invasive surgery.

In 2009, Lutheran General opened an eight-story, 192 private-room patient tower designed
to meet the community's need for a healing environment.  The tower includes innovative
safety and comfort features, a focus on family-centered care, facilities to support the
special treatment needs of patients, technological advancements and an environmentally
friendly design.

The Center for Advanced Care, located on the hospital campus, delivers the most
advanced treatment options and emerging technologies in breast health, cancer care, and
diagnostic imaging.  Lutheran General is the first hospital in the state and one of the few in
the country to offer Time-of-Flight PET/CT technology for superior detection of tumors.
